Dog Roar

Behavior Modification in Chicago

Rehab for jumping, leash pulling, barking, destructive behavior, leash reactivity, poor impulse control, and aggression.

This is where most owners land before they call us. The dog pulls so hard the walk is misery. Or jumps every visitor. Or destroys the couch when you leave. Or lunges at every other dog on a leash. Or has bitten someone. These problems don't fix themselves and they get worse with the wrong advice.

We work case by case. A bite history needs a different plan than a barker. A leash reactive dog needs distance and a different gear setup before any obedience work means anything. We figure out what's driving the behavior, then we replace it.

About ninety percent of the dogs in our Board & Train program come in with a real problem to solve, not a tune-up. This is what we do every day.

What's included

  • Plans built around the specific behavior, not a one-size template
  • Leash reactivity, jumping, barking, destruction, and impulse control
  • Bite history and aggression cases handled with appropriate caution
  • Owner training so the new behavior does not regress at home
  • Best run as a Board & Train for serious cases

Behavior Modification: common questions

Can you handle aggression and bite history cases?

Yes. These are some of Ray's strongest cases. Most positive-only trainers in Chicago refuse them. The first step is an honest assessment of what is driving the behavior, who or what triggers it, and whether a vet behaviorist needs to be in the loop.

How fast will I see real change?

You see change in days, not weeks. Foundation behavior usually shifts in the first 1 to 3 sessions. Serious cases like reactivity, aggression, or separation anxiety run longer. Plan on 4 to 8 weeks in a Board & Train so the new pattern actually sticks.

Should I do private lessons or a Board & Train for behavior issues?

About 90% of dogs in our Board & Train arrive with a real behavior problem to solve, not a tune-up. If your dog has bitten, has serious leash reactivity, or has destroyed your home, a Board & Train is usually the right call. Lighter cases run well in private lessons.

What if other trainers told you my dog is hopeless?

You are not the first person to hear that. Ray takes cases other trainers send back. A 100% balanced program means matching the tool to the dog, which is why dogs that failed elsewhere often turn around with us.
